Elke has always been a mover. An accomplished dancer and performer in many disciplines, her 20 year relationship with dance and its consequent body fatigue led her to seek healing – and so she found yoga. After experiencing profound positive change in all aspects of her life, Elke felt the desire to share her discoveries with others and became a teacher; she is a graduate of the Octopus Garden Teachers Training Program and Mentorship, and is a student of JP Tamblyn, Pat Harada Linfoot and Scott Davis.
In addition to yoga and dance, Elke’s movement background includes floorwork, acrobatics, functional movement and martial arts. Currently, her main teaching influences are the artists of Wim Vandekeybus’ Ultima Vez (Brussels), David Zambrano and RootlessRoot (Jozef Frucek and Linda Kapetanea).
As a yogi and a dancer, Elke loves to move and to lead others in how to fully access their bodies and minds through movement. In her classes, Elke leads a practice that is fluid and strong, challenging and with creative variations. She encourages a sense of play and her teachings cultivate a curiosity towards revealing our body’s intrinsic wisdom. Bringing knowledge from her broad dance and movement training, she is interested in everyone practicing individually in community and making each practice accessible to all.
